On August 25, 2020, during a peaceful protest about the police murder of Jacob Blake, Kyle Rittenhouse used an AR-15 rifle to kill Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber and severely wound Gaige Grosskreutz in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Kyle was found innocent of these charges, and gave the following statement, “The jury reached the correct verdict. Self-defense is not illegal, and I believe they came to the correct verdict, and I’m glad that everything went well.”
Once again, America has become divided over a controversial verdict. Citizens are publicly expressing their rage over the court's decision to drop all charges and free Rittenhouse. Although the trial did not have inter-racial implications, many Americans still view it as racist.
Several Americans have compared the Rittenhouse acquittal to numerous cases where blacks have been found guilty of crimes far less severe than those committed by Rittenhouse, but received harsh sentences.
