Unarmed Teen (Eric Cantu) On Life Support After Being Shot by Police at a McDonald's Parking Lot

17-year-old Eric Cantu of San Antonio, TX, is reportedly unconscious and on life support after being shot by officer James Brennand on October 2nd, 2022, per his family's attorney.

Cantu was unarmed as he sat in his vehicle eating McDonald's with a second person when the officer opened his door and ordered him out of his car. Brennand's body camera shows him shooting in the car and shooting five additional gunshots as Cantu rode off. The passenger was fortunately unharmed.

The San Antonio Police department said the officer failed to follow the procedures and protocols taught by the academy, and he was therefore terminated and faces criminal charges. Please stay tuned as this story develops.
