Two Cobb County Inmates Died This Month: Jail Conditions Are Said to be Unsanitary & Inhumane

Two inmates have died at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center this month (Atlanta area); Eva Kanja and Joshua Capes. Allegedly, Eva died Friday while undergoing a mental health evaluation after being arrested for an assault at the Wellstar Cobb Hospital. Joshua was found unresponsive in his cell on May 2nd. He was reportedly in custody for drug charges.

In 2019 Cobb County Jail was under fire for the inhumane treatment of its inmates. According to undisclosed sources, the jail is still operating poorly regarding sanitation practices, food preparation, Covid 19 outbreaks, and the overall treatment of inmates. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is now reportedly investigating the facility because of new complaints and the recent inmate deaths.

The jail has had at least ten inmate deaths since 2018. Stay tuned for updates regarding this story.
