Trump Rally Speaker Called Puerto Rico a "Floating island of garbage" and Disrespected Blacks and Jews—The Remarks Encouraged Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and Ricky Martin to Support Kamala Harris
Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Ricky Martin caught the slight taken against their heritage after comedian/podcaster Tony Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a "floating island of garbage" at the recent Trump rally. All three entertainers are Puerto Rican and used the comment to fuel their support of the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, during her campaign for the upcoming presidency.
All three recording artists boosted a video of the VPOTUS, in which she pledged to do her best for the citizens of the island nation following what CNN described as a Trump rally brimming with "blistering anti-migrant rhetoric [that] ranks alongside the most flagrant demagoguery by a major figure in any Western nation since World War II, according to Billboard."
Hinchcliffe continued during the rally with other sexist and racist remarks about Latinos, Blacks, and Jews. He said Latinos "love making babies… there's no pulling out. They don't do that. They come inside, just like they did to our country." Hinchcliffe continued with his insults during the rally; the podcaster said he "carved watermelons" with his "Black buddies" and said, "Jews have a hard time throwing that paper."
Puerto Rican native [singer] Luis Fonsi shared his resentment of Hinchcliffe's statements on social media: "I understand comedy, I'm a big fan of it." He continued, "I love roasts, trust me I get it. BUT… this is far from comedy. Not now, not against my island, my people. Hell nah!" Fonsi continued, "We are not OK with this constant hate. It's been abundantly clear that these people have no respect for us and yet they want our vote," Fonsi said. "I purposely wrote this in English cause yes we're American too."
Several celebrities have been lending their support to the VPOTUS. Beyoncé, her mother, Tina Knowles, and Kelly Rowland made a special appearance at VPOTUS Harris' Houston rally. At the rally, Beyoncé said, "I'm not here as a celebrity, I'm not here as a politician. I'm here as a mother," Beyoncé said. "A mother who cares deeply about the world my children and all of our children live in, a world where we have the freedom to control our bodies, a world where we're not divided. Imagine our daughters growing up seeing what's possible with no ceilings, no limitations. We must vote, and we need you." The Hoston native said, "It's time for America to sing a new song."
The upcoming Presidential election is Tuesday, November 5.
