Sex Reassignment Surgeon In India Will Attempt a Uterus Transplant on a Trans Woman (Biological Man)

Indian surgeon Dr. Narendra Kaushik will perform a uterus transplant on a trans woman who was born a male. Dr. Kaushik heads a sex reassignment clinic in New Delhi, India. Supposedly, this is the second documented attempt at this procedure worldwide. Allegedly, the first biological male who underwent uterus transplant surgery died from complications.

Some medical professionals suggest that this procedure will never be successful because the male body is not anatomically equipped to house any parts of the female reproductive system. Since a uterus is connected to the remaining parts of the female reproductive system, which will not be included in this surgery, such as the ovaries, fallopian tubes, vagina, and cervix, some experts feel that this transplant will be another unsuccessful attempt. Others think that even if the receiver does not die from the surgery, a fetus that gets implanted into a transplanted uterus of a biological male will not be able to grow and survive in the womb.
