In 2022, rumors of infidelity began to surface about rapper Remy Ma stepping out on her long-time husband and business partner Papoose with battle rapper, Eazy The Block Captain.
This week, Remy Ma and national boxing champion Claressa Shields traded insults at each other on social media over Claressa's romantic relationship with Papoose. Remy posted an unanticipated message online stating, "Papoose dum ass fell asleep on the phone with Claressa Shields, laying in my house he refuses to leave. This bi*** supposed to be a world champion boxer and get scary ass hung up soon as she heard my voice." Claressa followed up with a post, which was followed up with more posts from Remy—including Remy's advice to Claressa that she's not the "only one" Papoose is dating.
Yet, Pap tells his online followers a different version of the story. Papoose claims that due to Remy's extra-marital affairs, he's tried to divorce her. The mixtape rapper also said his wife is a narcissist. He stated on Instagram, "Sad to say that @remyma is a narcissist. She chose to cheat repeatedly. Now that I finally moved on, she's playing the victim. I have requested a divorce numerous times. She rather clout chase on social media. Than handle this like civilized adults. I did not wanna do the social media foolishness. For the sake of my 6 year old baby. She has to go to school. As you can see I remained quiet through this all."
In a separate post [that included a photo of Remy and her reported love interest], the New York entertainer also explained that instead of spending last Christmas with their daughter, Remy spent time with her male companion—who Pap said he got into a physical altercation with. Pap stated, "While I was at home with my daughter last Christmas. This is where @remyma was. Now that I FINALLY moved on she's angry & making up lies. [#Narcissist]
Papoose continued, "I told her we could divorce like adults. She refuses to do that because I wouldn't lie & say I didn't knock this chump out. I still got the messages of her begging me to lie about the knockout. But who cares! He didn't throw 1 punch back [#supersoft]. Last time I saw this chump, he was in the fetal position. Everybody saw it! & When I knocked him out @remyma woke him up. And went home with him for 4 days. I went home with my daughter! As you can see she couldn't wait to lie about it again. SMH [#narcissist] I didn't knock him out because he slept with my wife. I knocked him out because he shook my hand. And then slept with my Wife. [#wife #narcissist]
The couple's relationship troubles have shocked their fans. They were deemed one of Hip-hop's beloved couples. Remy Ma and Papoose reportedly married in 2008 while she was serving time in prison for assault.
Not long before her arrest, Remy entered the entertainment industry as a rapper and a member of Fat Joe's Terror Squad. A year after Remy's 2014 release from prison, the couple appeared on VH1's Love & Hip Hop: New York. The show showcased the burgeoning couple as they resituated their lives in the entertainment industry, renewed their vowels, and planned for a new baby.
Pap received great praise for waiting on Remy and continuously showing up for the rapper as she served her time. However, their union may be beyond repair.
