The woman who made prank (swatting) calls to the police, which required authorities to go to the home of rapper Nicki Minaj, faces criminal charges. A swatting call is when police are required to go to a residence under the pretense that violence has occurred.
According to Complex, "Back in June, Los Angeles police showed up at Nicki's residence after a prank caller notified child services that Minaj's two-year-old son was being abused. Less than two months later, TMZ reported that the Pink Friday rapper was swatted again, after law enforcement received a hoax 911 call that Nicki had been shot." Nicki recently posted two Tweets to address the situation and called out the prank caller by name, "To the woman who made those swatting calls to my home... #WasItWorthItDumbo. "Stephanie Bell. A warrant is in the system. Great detective work. So grateful. The DA filed one count for the swatting call and one for the false report to DCFS. To God be the glory."
Meanwhile, the rapper excited her fans with the release of "Barbie World," which she performed with Ice Spice and Aqua. The song has surged in popularity and appears on the Barbie movie soundtrack. The rapper confirmed via social media that she pushed back the release date for her highly anticipated album Pink Friday 2. The album's single, "Red Ruby Da Sleeze," is doing well on streaming platforms.
