Former NBA superstar, humanitarian, and civil rights activist Bill Russell died at 88. Bill was the face of the Boston Celtics for over a decade, leading the team to win eleven championships during his career. The 6-foot-10 center is often viewed as the best player the NBA has seen, as he's won the most championships of all time.
He was also a five-time MVP and a 12-time all-star in the sport. Bill eventually transitioned to coaching as he coached the Celtics, the Seattle SuperSonics, and the Sacramento Kings before retiring. Bill leaves behind three children Jacob, Karen, William Russell Jr., and his wife, Jeannine.
