One Direction Singer Liam Payne Died from Hotel Balcony Fall After 911 Was Called About a Disturbance

Liam Payne from the group One Direction reportedly died after suffering a fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.

According to Reuters, the Buenos Aires police said they were called to the CasaSur hotel where Liam was staying after being notified of an "aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol." The article stated, "When they arrived, the hotel manager reported he had heard a loud noise from the inner courtyard, and the police found that a man had fallen from the balcony of his room."

Several media outlets obtained the 911 call of a worker telling the police, "When he is conscious, he is destroying the entire room, and we need you to send someone." The hotel staff person also told authorities he felt Payne's life was at risk because the room had a balcony.

Reuters obtained a statement from the Payne family, who said they were heartbroken by his death. The family said, "Liam will live forever in our hearts, and we'll remember him for his kind, funny, and brave soul."

The British singer reportedly had struggles with depression and alcoholism. The star touched on his issues surrounding fame with The Guardian in 2019; he stated, "Doing a show to however many thousands of people, then being stuck by yourself in a country where you can't go out anywhere – what else are you going to do?

He and his fellow One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson disbanded to pursue solo careers after achieving great success in the pop world.

An investigation is reportedly underway to determine whether the star's death was accidental.

He leaves behind a plethora of fans who are mourning his death.
