According to The Courier, the state of Iowa has issued an emergency order suspending the license of a physician assistant who allegedly sexually assaulted multiple patients.
The board received complaints that while James Haag examined four patients for employment at a MercyOne clinic in Cedar Falls, Iowa, he sexually violated them. It's alleged Haag conducted the examinations without a nurse or other observer and asked all patients to disrobe.
During each examination, the board alleges, Haag "made physical contact" with their genitals. In some instances, the board alleges, he used his hands, while in others, he "pressed his fully clothed pelvic area into the patient's genitals or backside."
The complaint also alleges Haag made "inappropriate contact with multiple patients' breasts" during their examinations. "In multiple instances, where the patients attempted to cover themselves, (Haag) swatted their hands away," the board alleges, according to the report that The Courier obtained.
The board cited that the P.A. performed predatory actions towards his patients (that) constitute a threat to public health-including sexual assault of multiple patients. He's considered "dangerous" to patients.
P.A. Haag became licensed in September 1993—Iowa has suspended his license indefinitely, pending a February 7th hearing.
