Hollywood Continues to Pay Tribute to James Earl Jones After His Death

Renowned actor James Earl Jones passed away at 93. He leaves behind a notable legacy. James starred in many films throughout his long career, including Star Wars, Coming to America, The Lion King, and many more Hollywood blockbusters. He was the original voice of Darth Vader in Star Wars and its sequels.


The former Lion King Star overcame a speech impediment before becoming one of the few actors to win the prestigious (EGOT), [Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards].

James reportedly had diabetes until his death. He leaves behind one son, Flynn Earl Jones, whom he shared with his late wife, actress Cecilia Hart. Several celebrities are mourning his loss via social media; Mark Hamill, who famously portrayed Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, wrote #RIP dad 💔 on X.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Ava Duvernay also posted a multi-part story commemorating Jones' life on her Instagram, concluding with the words, "A job well done. A gift well shared. Bless you as you journey on." Chauncey Leopardi, another Sandlot star, also wrote on his Instagram stories, "Legends never die." An official statement posted by Disney quoted CEO Bob Iger as saying, "From the gentle wisdom of Mufasa to the menacing threat of Darth Vader, James Earl Jones gave voice to some of the greatest characters in cinema history," concluding that "on behalf of all of us at Disney, we extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones." Jones also appeared as himself in Fantasia 2000.
