George Floyd's Family May Sue Kanye West for Speaking on His Death During a 'Drink Champs' Interview

Attorneys for the late George Floyd's family have issued a cease and desist letter to Kanye West regarding his comments on the show Drink Champs regarding George's death. The family may sue West after he implied during the interview that George Floyd died from fentanyl rather than the fatal injury he sustained after officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck for 9 1/2 minutes. Part of Kanye's comments stated, "Chauvin's knee wasn't even on his neck like that."

The family's letter essentially asks the rapper and his affiliates to refrain from discussing George Floyd in any capacity in the media or public ever again.

According to NBC News, the letter stated "Mr. Floyd's cause of death is well-settled through evidence presented in courts of law during the criminal and civil trials that were the result of his untimely and horrific death," the letter said. "Nevertheless, you have maliciously made statements that are inaccurate and unfounded, causing damage to Mr. Floyd's estate and his family."

Drink Champs' co-host, N.O.R.E., has apologized to the Floyd family for any damages the interview may have caused the family.

-Story Update, per multiple media outlets. The Floyd family plans to move forward with a $250 Million lawsuit against the rapper, claiming harassment, misappropriation, defamation, and infliction of emotional distress.
