Former Belizean rapper Moses "Shyne" Barrow, now a respected politician in his homeland of Belize, has finally opened up about his 1999 nightmare, that involved Sean 'Diddy' Combs. While speaking to Channel 5 Belize, Shyne said he was the scapegoat for the 1999 nightclub shootingand took the fall for entertainment mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs. Despite being given ten years in prison and charged with assault, Shyne's spirit remains unbroken. After his release, he was deported to Belize and embarked on a political career. Shyne is the Opposition Leader of the House of Representatives in Belize.

In a recent interview, the former "Bad Boyz" rapper shared his perspective on the situation: "As an 18-year-old, all I wanted was to make my mother and Belize proud, and to be recognized for my talent," he recalled. "I was defending him, and he turned around and called witnesses to testify against me. He played a part in sending me to prison. That's the truth of our 'relationship.' I forgave. I moved on. But let's not pretend it was all sunshine and rainbows," he said.

Shyne elaborated more: "So, let us not lose sight of what the cold, hard facts are. This is not someone who I vacationed with and who he and I enjoyed this great, intimate relationship of brotherhood. This is someone who destroyed my life and, who I forgave and who I moved on and for the better interest of Belize, because he was in a position at that time to give scholarships and to maybe invest, I would not deny attempting to bring the investment to Belize and contribution to education to Belize." The former entertainer said, "Don't distort it as if he and I were "boom bally." This is someone that destroyed my life," he continued. "But do I take any joy with what he is going through? Absolutely not. I am different than other people — no one needs to fail for me to succeed."

Natania Reuben, one of the club shooting victims that Shyne was jailed for always accused Diddy of being her shooter despite Shyne being found guilty at trial. She described the news of Combs' arrest as "one of the best days ever." For years, she maintained that she suffered a brain injury and was not shot by Shyne—but was hit by Combs' gunfire. She told The Daily Beast she's hopeful Diddy will be convicted this time.

Due to his celebrity status, Combs was denied bond and is reportedly being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn in the [special housing unit].
