23-year-old medical assistant Marayna Rodgers went missing earlier this month, her remains were found in the Las Vegas desert. Her friend Sakari Harnden, 19, and her boyfriend, former NBA G-League player Chance Comanche, 27, have been charged with Marayna's kidnapping and murder. According to USA Today, Comanche was arrested on Friday afternoon by members of the California FBI for a kidnapping charge in connection with the missing person case. He was not granted bail, per the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.
Rodgers, who was from Washington state, traveled to Las Vegas and worried her family and friends after she could no longer be reached and reportedly didn't show up at a location where she was expected. According to Fox 5 Vegas, Garrett Comer, a friend who traveled to Vegas with her, gave the following statement when she disappeared, "I believe that she was taken against her will. I'm not sure if it was a male, a female that took her. I'm not sure, but I know this whole situation is not like Marayna whatsoever." "I'm not leaving until we find Marayna. There's no other option. The only option is to bring her home. I'm not going home until I got Marayna." Comer also stated "The whole reason of coming to Las Vegas was just to have a vacation, get away from things back home."
Comer said he dropped Marayna off with a friend around 1:15 a.m. on December 6. He said her last pinged location was on the southwest edge of the Las Vegas Valley around two hours later, and she was never heard from again. "The friend that I dropped her off with is someone that we've known for a good amount of time, about 6, 7 years of our life," said Comer. "I should've been there with her. I shouldn't have left my friend."
The Independent reported that the "Police said Rodgers had a pre-arranged meeting with Ms Harnden, and she brought along her boyfriend, NBA G league player Chance Comanche, 27." The publication also stated Ms Harnden was arrested on December 13 and has appeared in court on Thursday and Sunday, where her bond was set at $500,000, according to court records. Harnden is also facing a theft charge for stealing a Rolex in an unrelated case.
