A 30-year-old Texas man, Chuckie Smith, and his five-year-old daughter were shot and killed Monday at Slappy's Express car wash in Forest Hill, Texas, near Fort Worth.
According to WFAA, Authorities found the victim's car with bullet holes in the windshield and provided life-saving measures to the victims, but they were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Becky Johnson, who lives near the car wash, told FOX 4 she heard a series of gunshots and called the police; "Six the first time, and then it was half a second, and I heard six more. Then, a second later, I heard three," she recalled. Johnson says she was startled by what she says sounded like back-to-back gunfire. "I could see people fleeing for their cars," she said.
Two males wearing blue jeans and gray sweaters about 10:45 a.m. left a white four-door Kia, approached Smith's vehicle parked in a bay, and shot the father and child to death, Forest Hill police said.
Chuckie (also known as rapper G$ Lil Ronnie in the Dallas, Fort Worth area) and his daughter were identified by his aunt at the scene, according to WFAA.
Stella Houston—their aunt, told Fox 4 News, "He was a rapper. He didn't bother nobody. He didn't target nobody. He was a family man, and he was going around rapping, okay. Why would you target him?" Houston says the little girl just celebrated her birthday on Sunday.
His aunt continued, "Cleaning the car out, and somebody came through shooting and killed him and the baby," she said. "And a baby. His baby. A baby!"
A judge reportedly signed a capital murder warrant for the suspect, whose name police declined to release. Forest Hill Police Chief David Hernandez did not inform the public about what the surveillance camera footage picked up or about the evidence recovered at the scene.
G$ Lil Ronnie just shared a picture on Instagram of him, his daughter, and his daughter's school friend from a Valentine's Day school event; his caption stated, "My BabyGirl Couldn't Stand The Fact Her Friend Was Sad 😔 This Morning Her Daddy Couldn't Make it to Donuts With Daddy This Morning So Yu Know We Let Her kno it's Ok 2 Join us & She Can Snap it Up & That Changed her Whole Mood ❤️💙 My Lil Valentines Literally 💘."
