Diddy & Kim Porter's Children Speak Out About Kim's Death & the Alleged Memoir About Her Life
The late Kim Porter and Sean' Diddy' Combs' children have shown remarkable courage in making a statement about their mother's unexpected death in 2018 amid the controversy surrounding their father's pending legal battles—Diddy is in federal custody for sex trafficking, racketeering, conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
Kim's eldest son, Quincy Brown, whom she shared with R&B singer Al B. Sure, made an Instagram post about the 'hurtful' and ongoing rumors regarding Kim's death and her former relationship with Combs. Qunicy also commented about an unauthorized memoir, Kim's Lost Words, which recently debuted on Amazon. The book, which claims to be based on Kim's journal entries, has been refuted by the former couple's children and loved ones.
Their statement defends their mother's legacy. Her children stated, "Claims that our mom wrote a book are simply untrue. She did not, and anyone claiming to have a manuscript is misrepresenting themselves," Porter's children said. "Any so-called 'friend' speaking on behalf of our mom or her family is not a friend, nor do they have her best interests at heart."
The Combs children have shown incredible resilience over the last several years, beginning with the loss of their mother and now the arrest and legal woes of Diddy.
The Georgia native unexpectedly died from pneumonia in November 2018, a month shy of her birthday. Porter was known as a stunning beauty from Georgia who was a former video and runway model. Yet, she continued to frequent the red carpet, enjoy an upscale lifestyle, and had a brief acting career after her relationship with Combs ended.
Porter reportedly moved to New York as a young adult with her former husband, R&B singer Al B. Sure, who had a career at Uptown Records, where she was a secretary. Kim explained in previous interviews that she met Combs while he interned for Uptown's founder, the late Andre Harrell.
Kim and the now-fallen music icon shared three biological children, Christian and twins Jessie and D'Lila. The former couple raised each other's first children, Justin Combs and Quincy Brown, from previous relationships as their own. For years, they appeared to have a beautifully blended family, even after their breakup, [which was partially due to Combs having a child, Chance Combs] outside of their relationship shortly before their twins were born. Yet, the family became a blended family once again with Chance. Combs fathered another daughter, Love Combs, in 2022.
Since Kim's demise, several people, including Diddy's former bodyguard Gene Deal, have spoken about the complexities of Kim and Diddy's relationship and Combs' alleged wicked ways towards many people in the entertainment industry, including his love interests.
However, Diddy's reputation never diminished Kim's light. Upon her death, people remembered her as beautiful, classy, poised, and talented. Her children stated, "Our mother should be remembered for the beautiful, strong, kind, and loving woman she was. Her memory should not be tainted by horrific conspiracy theories."
When she died, Rihanna wrote, "we lost a real one today, beautiful inside and out." "so many will be affected by this, some won't even know why...but the whole world was graced by the vibrance in your spirit." "Such a special soul man!" she continued. "This don't even feel real! May God comfort and protect her children and loved ones!"
Singer Janelle Monae credited Porter for her career. She said, "When I moved to ATL, I was passionate about being an artist but had not gained much exposure. "If it had not been for you and the Three Brown Girls (your company w/ Nicole Johnson & Eboni Elektra) belief in me and inviting me out to do your open mic night 'Lip Service' at Justin's restaurant, my career would have been on another path. "You lovingly connected me with two key players that helped move my career forward, @bigboi & @diddy," she added. "I am forever indebted to you."
