Beyoncé announced her 2023 tour dates today, which will be the songstress's first tour since 2018. Queen Bey's 40-city production begins on May 10th in Stockholm. Her newest album Renaissance landed at number 1 on the Billboard chart, streaming over 179 million times during its first week.
The veteran performer has received some backlash with the release of this album. Her LGBTQ fans recently criticized her for performing in Dubai at the opening of the Atlantis the Royal. They felt that since Beyoncé has expressed her long time support for the LGBTQ community, she should not have performed in Dubai, an anti-LGBTQ city.
The star also received criticism from fellow artists whose music she sampled on Renaissance. The singer Kelis accused her of sampling her former hit "Milkshake" without giving her the professional courtesy of telling her in advance. The '90s group Right Said Fred also stated that Beyoncé sampled their hit song "I'm Too Sexy" without permission. However, Beyoncé denied their claims by telling Entertainment News, "Permission was not only granted for its use, but they publicly spoke of their gratitude for being on the album. Permission was asked of their publisher on May 11th, 2022, and the publisher approved the use on June 15th, 2022. They were paid for the usage in August, 2022."
One thing we know about Beyonce is she will produce her receipts! We also know she will be on point and give her absolute best during her tour, so grab those tickets soon!
